“The Gulf” (30x40 oil and cold wax on canvas). My inspiration for this piece came from the works of Winslow Homer. He loved to paint the woods, storms, and the water in the bottom of the boat. He also spent time painting in the Bahamas, believing Bahamians were part of nature. I borrowed some of his ideas and put them into this piece. Unlike Homer, I decided to leave it up to the viewer as to whether this rower is making his way toward calmer waters or about to paddle through an increasingly stormy sea. I supposed your perspective may well be influenced by where you find your own spirit at the moment.
