"Follow the Sun" 32"x48" Acrylic and Oil on Canvas: This painting is part of a beach series I have been working on. I'm exploring the relationship between an abstract and representational approach in one painting. I love the freedom of searching for backgrounds and shapes that can enhance the existence of the figures in the scene. There is a vastness when the sky and sea are rendered abstract, something that always strikes me when I  look out at the coastline. This canvas was wrapped over a solid wood board so that I could paint with layers of acrylic and scrape and sand back different portions to reveal the abstract shapes. Once the background was completed, I painted in the figures in oil. Once dry, the canvas was removed from the board and rolled up. This makes for easy shipping and also allows for some customization on frame size.
